Friday – A Few Swipes of a Shirt Tail

I reached for my glasses this morning and wow… they were filthy. Smudged up, cloudy, just gross. I could barely see through them.

It’s funny, I didn’t notice how bad they were until I actually looked through them. That’s how it goes, right? The smudges sneak up on you. One day everything looks fine, and the next, you realize you’ve been peering through a film of fingerprints, dust, and life in general.

So I cleaned them. It didn’t take long – just a few swipes of the tail of my shirt, and suddenly, everything was crystal clear again.

There’s something oddly satisfying about that moment, when you wipe away the blur and everything snaps back into focus. Like, ohhh there you are, reality.

And it made me think…how many smudges are clouding my view of things in life?

Things I’m holding onto.

The assumptions I’ve made.

The stress I’ve let sit too long.

They all build up, just like those tiny streaks on my glasses…one here, one there, until I can’t see clearly anymore. Maybe it wouldn’t take a big “life overhaul” to fix it. Maybe just a few small swipes – an apology, a deep breath, a moment of gratitude – to clear things up again.

That’s how you create an environment that allows success to happen: you see clearly what’s in front of you.

So yeah, maybe today’s not about fixing everything. Maybe it’s just about grabbing the shirt tail and wiping off one little smudge.
