I wrote a couple of weeks ago asking “what are we doing?” Here is another chapter.
It seems many of our top cabinet officials and other high ranking member of the current administration decided it was an ok thing to do to plan a military operation over a messaging app. Sure the app is more secure than textnow, WhatsApp or iPhone messenger (I guess) but seriously…these are our “top” folks, not one of them thought, “this isn’t the place to do this…let’s move this conversation offline to a more secure place.”?
The Secretary of Defense was on the thread
The Secretary of State was on the thread
The Vice President was on the thread
The National Security Advisor was on the thread
The Director of National Intelligence was on the thread
The Chief of Staff to the President was on the thread
The Director of the CIA was on the thread
oh…and a journalist…the editor of The Atlantic was on the thread but…and this is a big but (sing the song now)…the others had no idea that this journalist was there. He was invited by error. It makes you wonder if anyone else was on the thread.
Our national security is only in the hands of the best and the brightest and, yeah, we probably should be worried. And we should probably take these folks phones away – at least get rid of their texting and social media apps…they can’t be trusted with them.
Unbelievable…
