What happens when closely held beliefs are challenged? What if they are found to be wrong?

What if some of our closely held beliefs are being challenged right now with what is going on across this country? I hope they are and I hope that we can recognize that the challenge is happening and that we are willing to allow the challenge. I hope we do not hold so tightly to our beliefs that we cannot listen to other ideas and process the thoughts behind those ideas.
